From Venezuela…Brno!

I finally found a little time to write in english... so much time has happened since the last time I wrote...
Reading the title you will have guessed I write you from Caracas, capital of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, a large-scale social Marxist-communist experiment applied to a capitalist ocean. As I explained last time, nothing special it is seen in terms of insecurity, protests, shortages, etc.. How much damage do the newspapers and media in general ...
Obviously, I am here to work from BIB S.Coop in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of Venezuela, in order to attract young tourists to Isla Margarita. And while I'm here, I'm trying to organize by the Venezuelan government a meeting between basque food companies companies and venezuelan food importers. Incredibly, almost 90% of all food consumed in Venezuela are imported!

But let´s go to the vice… I will not write today about Venezuelan cuisine, ... so in this post I recommend Brno´s cool restaurant in the Czech Republic. As you know, from BIB S.Coop we work in several European projects, and sometimes we are invited as speakers about entrepreneurship and social innovation processes. In one of these tours, back in May, our friend and fellow Jiri Danes had no doubt about where we should go for dinner …

The restaurant is called PAVILLON (http://www.restu.cz/en/pavillon/), is reputed to be one of the best in Brno, and is certainly a very pleasant space, in the vicinity of a large park in the city center​​.
Without any doubt the best restaurant I've been in the Czech Republic ... that's right, I have not yet visited any of the 3 Michelin star restaurants are in Prague…next time I hope! I put some photos to get an idea of the style of dishes. They still have a long journey to make, but eating fish in the Czech Republic, and well cooked, is twofold miracle, and they get it here.
I had the pleasure of ordering the tasting menu with the corresponding wine pairing (about 30 € I recall), and as a curious note that included a Spanish wine Emilio Moro ... that quickly changed out by another local wine.

    

Desde Venezuela…Brno!

Por fin he encontrado un ratito para poder escribir a gusto…y es que han pasado tantas cosas desde la última vez que escribí, que ni las voy a mencionar.
Por el título ya habréis intuido que escribo desde Caracas, capital de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, experimento social a gran escala sobre el modelo marxista-comunista aplicado sobre un océano capitalista. Como ya expliqué la última vez, no se aprecia nada especial en cuanto a inseguridad, protestas, desabastecimiento, etc. Cuánto daño hacen los periódicos y medios de comunicación en general…
Evidentemente, me encuentro aquí para trabajar desde BIB S.Coop en colaboración con el Ministerio de Turismo de Venezuela, con el fin de atraer turistas jóvenes a Isla Margarita. Y ya que estoy por aquí, estoy tratando de organizar junto al gobierno venezolano un encuentro entre empresas de alimentación vascas e importadores venezolanos. Por increíble que parezca, prácticamente el 90% de todos los alimentos que se consumen en Venezuela son importados!!

Pero vayamos al vicio, que es lo interesante. De gastronomía venezolana, de momento prefiero no decir nada…de modo que en este post os recomendaré un restaurante pijolín con pretensiones de Brno, en la República Checa. Como sabéis, desde BIB S.Coop trabajamos en diferentes proyectos europeos, y en ocasiones nos invitan a realizar pequeñas giras en las que divulgar nuestra experiencia en los procesos de emprendizaje e innovación social. En una de estas giras, allá por mayo, nuestro amigo y compañero de proyectos Jiri Danes no tuvo ninguna duda sobre dónde debía ir a cenar…

El restaurante en cuestión se llama PAVILLON (http://www.restu.cz/en/pavillon/), tiene fama de ser el mejor de Brno, y es ciertamente un espacio muy agradable, en el entorno de un gran parque del centro de la ciudad.
Sin ninguna duda, es el mejor restaurante en el que he estado en la República Checa…cierto, que no he visitado aún ninguno de los 3 que tienen estrella Michelín en Praga. Os pongo algunas fotos para que os hagáis una idea del estilo de platos. Tienen todavía mucho recorrido por hacer, pero comer en Chequia, y que encima no este como una zapatilla, es milagro doble, y aquí lo consiguen.
Me di el gusto de pedir el menú degustación con su correspondiente maridaje (unos 30 € creo recordar), y como curiosidad destacar que incluía un vino español de Emilio Moro…que rápidamente procedí a cambiar por otro local.

Para terminar, y como buen eibarrés, sólo se me ocurre una manera de festejar y dejar constancia gastro-gráfica de un Eibar de 1ª División.
